Who Was I Ever? - a poem

Who Was I Ever?

Who am I?
Who was I ever?
Who did I think I was before this autumn, past?
Was I falsely secure?
Was it a man-made pride?
Was I bigger than the truth?
I once knew.
I never really did.
I am lost - yet I am here. Where I should be.
Ever am I here.
Ever in the balance.
Ever between the now, the not yet and what never really was.
Who was I ever?

Slowly but surly, I'll be back, friends.
